Branding
Branding is a key part of setting up a business, it’s your image, and can define where you sit in your industry before you’ve even made a phone call. It’s incredibly important to get it right. But it can also be a time where vanity exceeds sense, and far too many new businesses overspend in this area before discovering whether their business is viable in the first place.
We’re big believers in KISS ….Keep It Simple Stupid. Logos are important, but there is no ONE right logo for a business, it is always a compromise that aspires to attract the greatest percentage possible of your perceived market. You will not appeal to everyone, and so many businesses spend way too long worrying about all this.
At the end of the day, just having your company name in a smart font is probably going to the same job and not lose you any business, …clearly we don’t want you to do that but it’s crucial that if you do spend any money on branding, it isn’t wasted. At Freshly Designed we will look at your budget and advise you honestly on how far we feel you should take your brand and how we will get it there. We work with some very creative designers who can sometimes whip up the logo of your dreams on the first mood board, but we are also keen to make sure you allocate your resources properly, by setting clear goals that encompasses your whole start-up costs in their entirety. Far too many businesses spend 90% of their budget on team clothing, van livery, fancy office chairs etc, and then find they could really have done with that money in the bank to cover their first few months of trading. None of this is rocket science, when it comes to Branding we love it, but we always have a notion of when is a good idea to finish up. Branding + Perfectionists = £££££ ….so if we get your brand to 98% within a very quick time-frame then we’re happy.
All these logos were done as part of a web design project in a very short space of time. 90% of the time, we will get a logo 80% there in the first series of moodboards, as that is when all the concepts come to the surface. Once a clear direction has been chosen the tweaking begins. The discipline is deciding how long you want to take to perfect the next 20%. In most cases 90% of perfect has far more value than getting to 99% on six times the budget.
